What do I do with a bantum roo that I do not want? He is a year old and crows at all hours of the night? I lock him in our shop every night just to get some sleep. We have two other roos that my son shows for 4-H and they kindly wait until closer to 6 am to start their song. This little guy has got to go. I tried Craig's list but no luck. He's too little to eat. Any suggestions?

Eat him anyway? Single serving or toss him in with a full-sized bird for the soup pot? People eat quail

This is a good point. He would make a great protective watch chicken though. Just not at my house.

I hear that. I had a CM roo that (along with his brother) was a gang-without-permission-humper. If he had his own girls, there would be no issue, but my girls LOVE their head roo. He was NICE, and I could cuddle him, but he was HUGE and well...

He was WAY too pretty to eat, so after 2 months on CL, I found him a home with 12+ girls. She even paid for him! His name is now "Checkers" and I hear he is super-gentle with his girls. Not so tolerant of the nieghbor's roos though

I'm going through the same thing right now. I posted on local chicken forums and also to the homeschooling groups I belong to. I also posted here under the category birds for sale (although I was offering him for free).

In your case, you could also see whether anyone else in your son's 4-H would be interested. Good luck!
