Emily looked out her ground floor window. The sun was just visible above the treetops of the forest. Her view of the outdoors were different than they were in the room upstairs. To the right of the window was an ornamental tree in need of trimming, and a paved gated driveway that disappeared around a bend. Directly in front of the window and to the left was an overgrown lawn bordered by a high fence that separated the building from the forest. Half a tree lay across the lawn, the remainder of it still standing. "That must have happened in the storm a few days ago." Emily thought, remembering the vicious storm that rolled through one evening, shaking the whole building.

With all her belongings put away, Emily wondered if she dared leave her room. Would she get in trouble if someone saw her roaming the halls? She walked to the door, opened it, and stood in the doorway looking side to side at the empty hallway.

Dr. Mythe sighed. He didn't know if he really wanted Janette to know the truth yet, because really the only reason she supported all of this was to help people. And turning them into a humanoid wasn't exactly helping. So he decided to create a believable lie instead, for now.

"Teenagers sometimes tend to climb over the fence to try and scare the residents, very typical of them. I need to upgrade the fence, it's easy to climb over, but for now I'm focusing on the inside of the place." He told her seriously.
"Wish they could just learn decent manners and not try to climb over, but you can't control people, I suppose."
"Dr. Mythe, if money is your problem, please don't hesitate to ask," Janette said seriously. "We don't want wayward teens wandering in here randomly, now do we?" She asked, a hint of amusement in her eyes.

"Do not worry, money is not the problem. I've just been busy lately, so I haven't fixed these things yet. But I'm getting to it." Dr. Mythe told her sternly.
"So, is that all?" He asked her.

Janette felt like he was getting a little edgy, so she decided to cut things short. "Yes, I believe so." She straightened to leave. "Oh, may I borrow Emily Moore's file? Just to go over it and get acquainted with how I should care for her, you know."

"Yes, of course." Dr. Mythe opened a few drawers before finding Emily Moore's file. He took it out and handed it to Janette.
"There you go."

"Thanks," Janette took the file from him and tucked it under her arm. She went to leave but stopped with her hand on the door knob. "Please feel free to talk to me, and not just about money," she said, turning around slightly.

Thomas looked up from his papers again.
"Okay, I will. Have a good day." He said. "I promise that this place will be way better in the following days. If you have any more complaints, come talk to me again."

"Oh you can count on it," Janette said. She left his office and went to the cafeteria. After ordering a cup of hot tea, which was cold by the time it was prepared and she had sat down with it, she opened up Emily's file.
