nice job, have you tried it out yet? my dh made a mineral feeder for our goats out of pvc. it sure comes in handy for projects.

Great idea! How do you prevent it from rolling to the side?
I like the wide open mouths too, I think that would work well for ducks, they seem to have trouble with their beaks in small spaces (although mine are so fat, I'm sure they are eating just fine!)

Yes I have tried it, I made 4 of them and they work great. The one in the picture is not in a pen yet in the picture. When I place it into a pen I use zip ties and they seem to work great. Thanks for the replys. Brad

What is the best way to fill these tube feeders ?, how do you fill yours. I was wondering about ease and spillage, do you use a funnel or what ?.

I use a container that is sold for charcoal. I do get a little spillage but it is not to bad. I got the container from Lowes. and it is made by Kingsford.

Do you have any trouble with your chickens billing out the feed .
with this feeder.
I might as well just dump all the feed on the ground it is ending up there any way ..
anyone know how to stop this habit

I made a similar feeder- works great and I do not have a problem with the chickens billing out the feed.

The only problem I had was the bees! They came en mass and emptied the feeder of the larger bits of feed to get to the corn 'dust' to take back to the hive. I put some feed patties in the hives to feed the bees and haven't had much issue with bees since. Crazy insects dumped ten pounds of feed on the ground in a few hours. Who would have thought?

Liked your feeder, I have 9 chickens & a stationary galvinized feeder in their house, it seems like all I do is fill the thing up and it seems all the chickens do is spread the feed all over the floor. Do you think your feeder design will help to reduce the waste?
