home made waterer

You sure could. We don't have a water supply near by but we do have a long hose that does the job a couple times a week. Our set up cost less than $10.00.

I do not mean this in any foul way- but which part are the peckers? Is that the part that the chickens are actually drinking out of? And, did the chickens immediately start drinking from it or did you have problems getting them to drink?

The peckers or nipples are in the bottom of the curve of the PVC pipe. My chickens learned to use mine very quickly. They peck at the metal widget that wiggles, and in doing so, a drop of water comes out. They drink the drop, peck some more, drink some more.

I like to watch mine check out different nipples on the PVC pipe. Sometimes, one chicken will want what another chicken is already using, and they stand around waiting.... instead of using another nipple!

Thank you. I figured it out after I posted, but the only place I could find them was on farmtek and randall burkey at a decent price (1.59 each) but when you add shipping, it's going to be pretty high for what they are. They were going to charge 10.00 shipping for 6 nipples. Any ideas where else I could buy some and nt pay shipping? My local feed store doesn't carry them. TSC doesn't have them either.

Did you ask your feed supply to order them? Some places are agreeable to do that. Ours doesn't carry d.e. but orders it for us.

I haven't asked them to order them for me. I don't know anyone at tractor supply well enough to ask and my local feed store never carries anything like that (only feed). I think they would think I was crazy if I asked them to order them.

I have them for sale you can check out the link in my sig
