Homemade Detergent PIC HEAVY

I have a front loader. when I use it I use about 1/2 cup per load. I also use the receipe that calls for 1/3 of a bar. the receipe is the same, except the amountof the bar. I don't know if that makes a difference with the amount of suds or not for the front loaders.

I've seen web sites where you can buy ready to melt glycerine soap. It is a very basic soap for anyone who is interested in trying this recipe but who does not make their own soap from scratch using lye etc. Hope that might help.

PS: Rather than shaving the soap - could you just melt it?

I'm not sure that you can use melt and pour soap in your laundry detergent. Never heard of it done before. If you try it then let us know.

Melt and pour is made with lye, you just don't have the lye in the finished product. If you're wanting to make your laundry detergent all natural, melt and pour isn't really the way to go due to the chemicals in it. I've heard that you can find all natural melt and pour but I've never seen it.

Oh, that's disappointing.

RE: Lye: I just meant for those of us who don't want to handle lye, someone else has already done that part when the soap is already made.

What ingredients are in the soap you make?

Water, lye and vegetable oils. Additives are essential oils, fragrance oils and natural colorants. No lye in the finished product of course.
