I constantly look on BYC in all areas for new and helpful information and at coops showing their ideas for what you are looking for. I was looking for feeders and waterers that I could make and not take up valuable space in the run. I found a feeder made of pvc pipe that was hung in a corner of the run (it could be hung in a coop) with a large round bottom secured to it at the base where food would gravitate to the bottom. This bottom piece would need to be large enough for ducks to get into. The waterer also uses a pvc pipe, has a round piece secured at the bottom with a nipple on the end. Only chickens can use the waterer. I loved both ideas because they take up minimal space in a coop or run. Hope this gives you some more ideas?

TLWR- I have one of those two compartment feeders for my goat minerals... hanging it on hooks is a great idea. I screwed mine to the wall, but it is hard to clean out. Definatly going to go hang mine on some hooks now. Don't know why I didn't think of that. THANKS

kuntrygirl - that pipe one you made I think is pretty perfect - especially since I already have lengths of PVC like that laying around the property, cut in half lengthwise and everything! All i would need to do is scrounge up some wood (plenty of that left behind by the previous owners also) and I could whip some like that right up!

I've tried some of the gravity type water set ups...never had much luck with them...I suppose as I get older, gravity is truly NOT my friend, no matter what i do

But that is exactly what I had half envisioned with some of the materials we have laying around and that pvc...there was so much "trash" left on this property by the previous owners...it's nuts...but it can also be my treasure if I recycle and utilize it instead of burning it or hauling it to the dump...and a great money saver too!

I bought my feeders at TSC but I made the covers for them from left over material when we built our duck house which was built with left over construction material. It's great to be able to use left overs, saves a ton of money too.

I've just been using those large ice cream plastic containers (gallon size I think) for our 10 Pekins. It seems to work well, and the Sumatra's fly over the fence and seem to enjoy it too!

Great!! I love my feeder. It is so light weight. Not heavy at all. Whenever I want to move it because of the weather, I just pick it up and place under my raised coop. I am have 2 more of them built. I have 0 waste. The sides are so high that nothing spills out and the animals can't get in to kick any feed out.

And as you said, it's a great money saver.

I really like the PVC feeder of yours kuntry, did you design them and have someone build them for you?
