homemade egg turner ideas? anyone have any working

Ive read about those also and still havent decided on one particular design yet. Ill look into those and see what I can find. It would be a good solution like you said if the even turned constant at a verry slow rate.

I'e found a cheap 6 volt motor that would do what I want for only like 13 dollars that will run at like 3 rpms and I thought I might just add a pulley and belt system and let it turn constant but just figure that is a lot of wasted power over the life of the incubator. If I use the timers and limit swithches it will cost a little more at first but think the power savings over time will offset the initial cost. I've got to draw up the plans for the cabinet and the wiring idea and see what I can come up with. I'd post some pics of my ideas but my pc is dead along with the scanner and all so most of this I read and write with my phone

does anybody know how many cfm the fan is on a sportsman incubator?

still weighing options but think the design but think the one like rebelcowboysnb posted would actually be the easiest and cost efficient. I've found a motor I think will work just need the timer motor kit and another limit switch. Been sketching up a basic plan but just seems big compared to a sportsman. If I use an 8" spacing between my turner racks it will be 4 feet which isnt a big deal really.

I built an incubator out of an old side by side fridge. Everything was free except the 5 egg turners and the thermostat which I realized later that I could have just robbed an old water heater of one. I made a automatic door opener for my chicken bus using an old flywheel, a 12 volt motor and gearbox out of an old kids toy car, and a wildlife feeder timer. The rod for the door is connected to the flywheel and as it goes round the rod gets shorter or longer. The timing is the trick. or a person could use two timers wired at opposite polarities with the same time settings....bla bla bla.. anyway, I think the method might work with a homemade egg turner as well. Hope this helps the brainstormers out there.

Thanks I figured it was around there. I didn't think a pc fan would be near big enough. I've found a fan that will be cheaper and put out close to 200 cfm still.
