homemade egg turner ideas? anyone have any working

to slow down the motor... would a lamp dimmer work...

isn't a lamp dimmer nothing more than a potentiometer that is set up to use ac voltage?

I'm not sure about the long term reliability of an AC motor running at a lower voltage than it was built for?

Ok I think I know what to do with the timer situation and motor. Im going to use an orbit sprinkler timer which outputs 24vac and use a bridge rectifier which will switch it to vdc. If I use a pot and a motor rated from 6-24 volts I should be able to do what I want with relative ease. The parts are cheap and readily available!

ya I've found a lot of things that can be done it's just getting it done now. I'm just hoping that a resistor could be put in line also to slow the motor down since it will run on 6 volts up to 24.

well went and bought the plywood tonight to get the cabinet going. I went ahead and cut the sides, front, back, top, and bottom but have to cut the false wall piece tomorrow. I'm taking notes so I remember how big everything is and need to take pics along the way so I can document the build. Once I start getting pics I'll start a new post so I can update the progress. I went with 3/4" for a little more insulation and and to be just a little sturdy. I'm thinking of using an epoxy paint inside to make it easy to clean but not sure yet might also buy a sheet of fiberglass panel and line the inside and caulk the seams. Lots of ideas just gotta do it now

sorry for the cell phone pics...

that's a motor for a hovabator motor... i hope it will hang with 60 bantam eggs... last time i did it different, and it couldn't lift it back up... so now i made the lift point farther from the pivot point... i have to test it with a book or something... wish me luck...

it's doing the trick, but i don't know how much weight to put on it to test it... what do you think...? 60 bantam eggs... will it be able to lift them..? what should i use to test it...? i have a book that i think will weight the same...
