homemade feeder

i need instructions on how to build a homemade feeder with random stuff that might be laying around. i am sick of my one silkie who poops and wastes food all the time please help also i didnt know where to put this so i put it in here

Question is what do you have lying around? I used a 5 gal pail that had a lid and screwed a big flower pot base to the bottom and drillied 1 1/2" holes in the bottom edge of the sides in 4 spots and hung it from the ceiling. Made a second feeder out of a piece of PVC pipe and elbow and end cap and screwed it to the wall. Tell us what you got and I am sure someone on this site has made one with what you have.

well my dad has all the buckets for his wine makeing we have lots of spare wood that i might use to build a breeding/brooder coop as i call it and thats kinda it but i am sure i could get some supplies from neighbors/friends

Is it going to be an indoor or outdoor feeder?

I might add that I did see where someone had used hardware cloth at the bottom of the feeder so that they couldn't bill out the feed but couldn't scratch themselves on the metal hardware cloth either. Unfortunately I don't remember whose feeder that was.

This is what I do- the pan underneath catches the billed out feed and it saves megabucks. I show this pic to give you the idea of a feed catcher under your future homemade one. Now I just set the feeder inside the pan and don't bother hanging it.

I just built one myself out of scrap pieces. I used a piece of pvc pipe, 1 ferring strip, and an old pan that the handle broke in. I made an X with the ferring strips inside the bottom of the pan, and screwed the pvc pipe to the ferring strips. I had an old coffe can to put on the top to cover it. If needed I can post pics. I have all of 25Cents invested for the screws. This is a gravity feeder. The pan has about 3-4 inch high sides. this keeps the feed in the pan. And using the 6 inch pvc, it does not leave enough room for them to start scratching at it to rake it out.
