When I was pregnant with my first one, I would get up in the middle of the night starving and fix, pork chops, mashed potatoes, etc. so I completely understand.

Just made this for a party I'm going to tonight. It looks, smells, and tastes delicious! I pre-sliced, and with the presentation I have I had some left over to try a piece, and I hope the hubs enjoys it tonight, because if it's as good as I think it is, it shouldn't be coming home, lol.

ETA: I sprinkled some oregano, garlic, basil, and rosemary on the dough before I rolled it up

I've attempted this bread before but always kneaded by hand and I had trouble with it. I got a mixer for christmas & I've already made 4 loaves of Gump's bread! This last one I made cheddar jalapeño after my brother begged me. After rolling it out, I spread shredded cheddar cheese over the top then put a bunch of pickled jalapeño slices on it. Then I rolled it up and out cheese & peppers on the top. I do not like jalapeños but this bread was GREAT. I would post a photo but it's gone!

I'm making this right now! 20-25 minute first raise? SIGN ME UP!

And I lovelovelovelovelove that you used KitchenAid recipestyle! I find they always ask for too much flour for hand-kneading in a lot of recipes but this one came together SO perfect smooth and stretchy!

My husband said it was the fluffiest bread I've ever made and then took half a loaf with him to work.

So. Um. YAY!!!!

(Oh and I was a meani and used a bread pan anyway and it turned out perfectly and in the best sizes to slice, which it does well the next day!)

I found it doesn't matter on the yeast. I have used both kinds. But generally I use the yeast that comes in the jar since I make so many loaves. So the answer to your question is no. LOL

Thanks! I am going to the strore today to get the stuff to make this. It sounds so good!!!

Maisie, how did you make your panetonne? I'd love a good recipe for this since I adore it at holiday time, and probably would ALL the time if it were available:) I'm assuming you used the Gump's recipe? What and how did you add the nuts and fruits? What did you bake it in? How long? Thanks for all the help. ~G
