Homemade incubator size of ice chest?

We are going to attempt the homemade incubator and have assembled all parts except the ice chest. How thick does the styrofoam need to be? Does a regular styrofoam cooler work OK?

I've had a regular styrofoam and just built one with a rubbermaid cooler. I highly recommend spending the extra for a rubbermaid. It hold the temp and humidity MUCH better IMO.
