I have been reading posts on here for the past month and got inspired to build my own incubator instead of buying one. I have been working on it for about 3 weeks and it still needs some paint but I thought I would share pix of it with everyone. Thanks for all of the great info!!

The inside of the incubator was painted with 3 coats of kitchen and bath paint for easy cleaning and to seal the wood.

Putting in false wall in back for air circulation.

Turning trays made out of metal bed rails and welded to 3/4" steel pipe run through 4 bolt flange bearings on the outside of incubator.

1st attempt at hatching eggs.

I thought the contest was over?

Heat is a 600 watt Edison cone heater. Air is moved by a Hoffman 240cfm fan. I have ceramic tiles placed in the bottom for a heat sink. It will hold 576 chicken eggs and about 3400 quail eggs.

Not yet as far as I know. I thought Nifty said it would be open for a few more submissions.

I found this after about 2weeks of looking for a heat source. they can be 400w-1200w

The reason I went with the cone is that it will not blow out. It can come on and off for ever v's alight bulb.
