Homemade organic chicken feed question???

I have been online looking for good organic recipes.....I found a few but they called for split pea and lentils. I read some where on BYC that you shouldn't feed you chickens dried beans is that true for lentils?

You can feed both lentils & peas raw with no problem. I believe they should be 30% or less of the feed mix, but don't quite remember.
