Homemade stimulation toys for autism! Help!!!

My brother is autistic among other things and is a video game addict and loves music. Any money he earns goes straight to itunes. If she likes music, how about an itunes card. Or what about cash? or a savings bond?

Great ideas, please keep them coming!!

My brother in law made a book that when you flipped it , the pictures looked like they were moving... i know you can buy them too. She may really like that.

let me see if I can find a link to one....

I work for a therapist who treats children and adults with autism and I explained your question and he suggested without knowing what others suggested a gift card to allow her to pick her own gift. I know that is boring but since he is a therapist I thought I'd pass that along.

That is a great idea, but that is what I usually do... to the movie theater, Wal-Mart.....I just wanted to give her something more useful, and something unique.

Maybe I will have to resort to that......I'll give some time.

Give her a giftcard to the bookstore. Maybe she will find a new Bible to flip through. My autistic nephew is fascinated by vacuum cleaners. I think that only present I ever gave him that he liked was my old broken vacuum. He even slept with it while he was here.

dont know if this was mentioned but Kodak and other picture downloading sites have flip books you can make. I would take pics of her favorite things, you can play with the way the look on the sites (like making them into scetches or cartoons, or changing colors) and have them put into a collection much like a flip book or mini albulm. The quality on Kodak is excellent and they are not that expensive.
