Homeowners Insurance...Co. would not write a policy b/c of chicks???

I am trying to get a new homeowners policy and had one company tell me that they will not write a policy because we have chickens???? Has anyone else had this problem? We have 11 chicks and are conforming to our town's zoning ordinances. Did you need a special policy? This seems silly to me....

Are you sure that it is the company policy or just something that one agent said? Research the company and try to talk to another agent or their supervisor.

I do have a call in with another insurer (who found it very funny and asked if they were "attack chickens").

Someone else had that same problem last fall I think it was, but I don't remember who it was.

There are some strange policies out there. I was initially quoted a very high rate on life insurance because "my cholesterol was too low." I hated to be forced into going out and eating a bunch of greasy fast food hamburgers and french fries just to bump up my cholesterol...

My doctor wrote a letter vouching for my good health and counterattacking their information, and I ended up getting the lowest rate. It's really strange what some insurance companies come up with...
