Homeowners Insurance Policy Cancelled for keeping chickens?

Just to add to this, our insurance co at the time wouldn't insure us because our dog was a terrier mix (he looked like a schnauzer). We went back and forth and got our vet involved but the ins co wouldn't budge. They assumed because he was a terrier, that he was a pit bull terrier. Finally, our vet changed the dog's file to say he was a schnauzer and they insured us. Go figure!

Funny thing is that they never said a single word about the 3 Chihuahua and the Border Collie! I still have not received a call back form Liberty Mutual to date..they're probably thinking up some new BS

If I were you, I would be shopping for a new insurance carrier. Life is too short to deal with that aggravation.

my wife has to go in and up date ours. they have a new system of billing based on the age of the homes appendages.
the roof says its 20+ years old so it now reduces what they cover. however we just did the roof 3 years ago. the fact we have fire extinguishers is lost on them to. for what I have spent over the years I could have just put the money in the bank and been farther ahead.

the thing to remember about ALL insurance companies is this. They are in business to make money. Anything that represents the potential for a loss they don't want to deal with. In other wards they are very happy to collect your money, but when its time to actually USE the policy... they will find some way of getting out of it. But if YOU try to get out of it... forget it!!

Mine tried to drop us by saying that I had three pit bulls. I asked how they figured this out since I didn't see anyone official casing the place out. Was told that someone came over and looked at the outside, including looking over the fences. I corrected them by sharing that I had two dogs, (one a full blooded shepherd, the other a mix of black lab/pit bull. The rep described three pit bulls with short white fur, and spots. I invited him over to take pics, check out all the dogs paperwork from vets, chat up the neighbors. He also said that it is their policy to drop folk if they have ANY pit bulls. I showed him via the local map of human beings whom I'd trust a whole lot less than most pit bulls, including the official map of people whom were jailed for harming children, or are irrational from illegal chemicals. I believe there is a serious prejudice and misunderstanding regarding those whom raise chickens. From personal experience, most whom do so know what their investments are capable of. They are usually more responsible, simply because the 'circle of life' living the popular green life, balancing gardens, etc.
