We homeschool, too!

We started with chickens basically because we would like a small slice of the "simpler" life. And as an educational endeavor for the children.

And we have the time, which I think is huge. It seems no one has time for anything anymore.

Scoop - I to am in the "Rust Belt" that is if we had anything left to rust --

and College - free ride to us -- If your in central PA - at 10.00 an hour the only reason a kid can't go to college is desire -

the financial aid isn't a blah blah --- It pays and I know cuz I sent Marine 1 while working at Rite Aid -- He had a free ride --

Which of course raised his rank and gave him an education base to further that career ---

the only way to get above that 10.00 mark anywhere is college or a training program-
amazing what a CDL license can do for income --- 2 weeks training -

Unfortunately we live in a society that would rather give a job to someone with a degree then someone who doesn't have one but is more qualified.

My DH has had that problem he and another guy at his work are the same age/same race/same sex (obviously) only difference is my husband works his butt of and this guy doesn't. They posted a lead position and they both signed up for it along with some others. They were both told they qualifed. They do their work based on a pecentage done my husband always had 110%+ this guy was in the 80% all the time. They choose the other guy because he has a degree. Never mind he has no idea what he is doing (they work in a warehouse). This guy doesn't even have a degree that will help him in this field his degree is in political science......

I hate to say it but by the time most of our kids graduate they will have to have a college degree to even work at McDonalds....

I can't wait till next summer we are wanting to raise are child as much off the grid as possible. Hopefully we can find a nice eco friendly self sustaining piece of earth somewhere to call home.

Well I was homeschooled through Gateway Christian academy and Daniel 1. I loved it! I was able to study, farm and show my animals. And as far as social lif goes we have a homeschool group here of over 300 kids and their parents so lots of socializing. No problems there and as far as people saying that homeschool kids dont get as good of an education- it depends on the parents. For example I know a lady that homschooled for 4 yrs and her kid barely graduated because she was behind. Then there was my family and a couple of others. Our parents had private teachers to come in and help(which it only cost like $20 per session per teacher). I still clearly remember my history teacher a guy named Mr. Ross from the Phillipines. Great Person. O and that not so great education landed me a place in Yale. So for those of you that have bad experiences I am so sorry. My mom is disabled and doesnt have much money at all but she done it right from the get go. And as far as getting up = wasnt going to happen with her until the work was done. Period.

Happy Homeschooling Ya'll!
