Homesteaders

The family at the market. It was a good time.

We are home of course and there is a lot to do. Noticed some gooseberries but the garden needs cleaning so it will take days. Some hens are broody and one is doing the duck walk. Not sure what happened. I will be letting the hens sit to hatch some new ones at least.

Nice pictures, Too bad you could not get a clean shot at that chicken eating buggar bird in the top of the pine.....

Seriously and this has nothing to do with homesteading, other than eagles are a PITA to me.....They found one in Minneapolis under one of the bridges some homeless sometimes hang out at.... It had been filleted and the breasts taken... This was about 10 days ago.. I am innocent I never go to Minneapolis!

That is sad about the one you found. It was nice to see Eagles out of the cage. We do have them here but I've never sought them out. Here are some more pics. Our first few days were spent camping. We did stay in a cabin and we could not get the wood stove started, but we did have a good time. At my age I get up a lot and early sometimes. There are benefits as you can see.

On the homesteading topic. I weed whacked some of the garden yesterday and figured I could wait to spread some newspapers down but as luck would have it, it rained cats and dogs this morning and I didn't get them down. I should have laid them yesterday but I'm still tired from the time change and all. Our flight was far too long. We had a 4 hour layover in Chicago and my allergies were giving me heck.

Anyhow I'll get those papers down today some time though i won't be able to mow or weed whack. Every thing in the back is over grown again. I've sworn to never go away again.

If I get a chance I will get a picture of the eagles this fall. I have seen a couple hundred all sitting on the same field at a time. We get a lot of them through here, though they have not yet (desperately knocks on wood) ever been a problem for us.

RH, these pics are magazine worthy....just stunning!!!! What a great opportunity to see these sights! If you don't mind, I'm going to save a couple of these to my computer to use as desktop pics.
