Quote: You could also rent out your plucker to recoup the cost. I saw a Chinese plucker for about $40 and got excited until I saw it was for quail, lol. I can see a 100 birds being hard to process, plucking or skinning. Whew!

I love my iron skillets. I passed a couple down to my grown children so I only have 2 now but they are going to last me forever or at least my lifetime. My husband made me buy some of those new green nonstick pans. I use the saucepans but rarely the skillets. I do like the lids on my cast iron though. Glass see through.Hubby went to Wally World tonight. Along with the requisite junk, he brought me a Lodge 12" cast iron skillet and a package of clothes pins. I think he's starting to embrace my life style!!!
He actually said it was to keep the dog in line. How ever, I think I'd be more inclined to throw it at a passing hawk... not that I could hit the broad side of a barn with anything. Why would a husband buy any woman a deadly weapon?
I think the clincher of it was that I told him that my 8" that I recently seasoned and am now using had better non-stick properties than my ceramic non-stick that I bought last fall. And I can cook a much bigger meal in this 12"!!!! Yep true reciprocal love!!!!SHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! That's a secret!!!!That skillet was for cooking, huh, LG?
Cooking nice, hot meals for her dear, dear, deary, dearest hubby.![]()
Hey!!! Not all women are violent , some of us are very sweet.![]()
I have a 12" lid that ALMOST fits this skillet. It rests on the top, but the metal edge does not fit down inside the top. That was a freebie from the Habitat ReStore. I'll put a lid on my must have list next.I love my iron skillets. I passed a couple down to my grown children so I only have 2 now but they are going to last me forever or at least my lifetime. I love the older movies. I would sit and watch them with my grandfather. My favorites were the ones where the wife did bean the husband with a pan. That's why I got my first cast pan years ago. Lol. Then of course the dang thing was too heavy to throw.
Yep, I know your humor. I gave away most of my cast iron when I ripped my shoulder out. But, after the surgery, it's time to enjoy it again! If your wife does the cooking, and does not like the heavy lifting involved, I can see why she hates them. You could always offer to do all of the cooking!I was Joking about the deadly weapon!!!I did not think I would have to say that. I am guessing I am the only one old enough to remember the old movies (mainly black and white") where the wife would bean the errant husband with the cast iron frying pan...![]()
I love cast iron frying pans. I would only have them if I could. My wife hates them. I have no idea why.
I have and use them at the cabin. I might get some for home here, but she would not like it.....I can tell..
