Homesteaders

Just to clarify... did the threads die or did the mushroom eating people die from eating the wrong fungus?

This is the best post I have ever read!!!!

I wish I had the funds to get a big plucking machine but alas I don't. I'm having trouble getting a broken drill bill out of my drill so my drill plucker is on hold for the time being.

The 'Toads' are amazing. I would say 'good luck' with the experiment but it seems you don't need it.

I did not have the funds for it. I forced myself to buy it. I have around 100 birds to clean. Plucking is the worst slowest part. If I take them somewhere to have them processed it costs $3.50 a bird. That's $350!

I have an older plucker, they are listed on Craigslist for $250 around here. If I can get close to $200 I will be happy and will have recouped my money in my mind, if not in my wallet.

Thanks for the non-Good Luck!

I cross my fingers each year as we enter winter. I hope I have enough survive to continue my experiment. I should relax some, they seem to do better in the cold than they do in the heat. But up here with predators and huge birds that are not fast movers, one never knows what will happen.

I have more Roosters than hens, so I am going to eat a couple. They are just holiday birds for us. A super huge roasted chicken is so good and juicy. I like it better than a turkey.
