Foot and a half and rising! LOVE all this snow for the BTE garden and the composting efforts there. The worms in my bin are happy and multiplying, the chickens are currently confined to the coop by the deep snow~SNOW BONUS!!!! ~and keeping all that lovely manure where it belongs...in my composting DL. Smells fresh as a daisy in there with my deep leaf pack and I'm so thankful to have the extra manure.
They still tried to get out in it this morning, though, and found they had to fly over the snow to make progress....funny to watch big WR rooster and hens flying that high and far. Very impressive!
I gave them a little extra feed today and split them open a pumpkin to work on...they immediately consumed the seeds and will work on the rest of it later.
The dogs are loving the new, deep snow and have been playing hard all morning. I never get tired of watching that! They both shared a big deer liver and some dog food for their ration today, which makes for happy, healthy dogs. Lots of iron and Vit. K for a working dog.
This hoop coop is so easy to remove the snow from...you just grab the wire and give a shake and it all comes sliding off except the very topmost snow. I leave that on for insulation and clear the rest to let in the light. The snow falls down the sides of the hoop and neatly piles at the bottom for additional insulation. It's a win/win.
Hope everyone is enjoying this snow and are safe, warm and well fed on this day!
