I was not calling you out. Sometimes I put information out there for others to read. I was not targeting anyone in particular. The subject of feeding chickens mice and other things has come up before. It's also not so much feeding mice to chickens but cleanliness in the coop to prevent disease and other health problems. There are some newbies who might find the information helpful. 

Sorry if you thought it was for you. 

my coop is clean. The rodents my flock eats are from the hay field on one side and the horse farm on the other side.

I read a lot of magazines. In fact I just got a box of back issues Mother Earth News I found on E Bay. Sometimes subjects get mentioned and then I like to share what I've found. Sometimes folks think, "He's talking about me" and that isn't necessarily the case. If I think it's something specific to someone I will contact them by PM. Otherwise it's just a general sharing of information.

If I ask a question I high light it cuz I want folks to see it. I might get an answer and not be overlooked.

Lord knows we get busy and sometimes have to do a quick scan of a bunch of posts we miss. At least I do. I don't follow many threads. I just don't have the time.

That said stay tuned for what I find in those back issues. I'm sure there lots of good info and ideas for homesteaders.

You have a goldmine in those magazines! I have all of my Countryside and Small Stock Journal magazines. They're my homesteading archives!

Just got off the phone with the neighbor, it is official we are not renting to him next year and he is coming over tonight to talk about the piece of his field I want to buy. It's about 1 acre and he wouldn't have access to it without us providing easement. Plus it has a decent wet spot in it. Best for us to buy it and save all the hassle as long as he is willing to make a deal.

Now I have to figure out how to get it planted for pasture in spring. Option 1 is to hire someone to custom drill the seed for me Option 2 is to buy an old style ground drive drill and do it myself.

Price will probably decide between the two. I am so excited!! Dexter cattle and maybe a Jersey are on the short list. Looking forward to building a small herd!

Congrats! Keep us posted! I'm interested in hearing more about the Dexter cattle! I haven't found any near that don't cost as much as used car!

Cattle won't come until spring 2018 most likely. Need a year to get the pasture established and fences built
