Do you have them?


Not many have heard of kinder's. They seem to be the ultimate in dual purpose. Great growth rate and feed conversion, good milk, on the small side so easy to handle, breed multiple times a yr and have multiple kids.
I was on a work schedule that varied hrs and days and no one interested in helping milk so wasn't do-able.
Now that I'm on a set schedule I'm thinking of getting some, DD#2 said she'd help so it might be possible now.

they look to be ideal for a small homestead. Compact and 60% dressed weight!? On a mission is must go. Thanks yall, more work.

I just started my heard last year after 2 years of doing all kinds of research online. I actually found out about kinders by accident one day online and the more i read about them the more i knew they were for my family! We finally got our first does last summer and our bucklings were just born on another farm, we wont be picking them up until March, and then we will finally get to breed them ourselves. Eventhough kinders are a pygmy nubian mix they are recognized as a breed and can be registered through the KGBA and shown at shows. And if you decide to become a breeder it can be quite profitable as well,Kinders go from $300- $400 each.

As for my girls, they have been wonderful, everyone told me that goats would try to excape but these 2 will follow you around the yard out of the fence, ive never had them try! As far as thier size they are actually the same size as a Labrador height wise and as they get older theyve just gotten wider. I havent milked them yet, but when we do i expect the milk to be sweeter and creamier from what ive heard from actual owners myself, they can also produce a fair amount of milk for thier size so we are looking forward to that next year for sure!

They are very friendly,content,happy animals. Easy to care for, cheap to feed. They are good with children and other animals and for us have been a wonderful addition to our homestead.

Neat. I've never heard of Kinders. They make sense though. I've got some Nubian Boer crosses. Had 2 baby's this morning. One was way to big and was already dead when I found it this morn. I'm not sure if it was still born.

Oh no! Im so sorry unfortunately that happens every so often with all animals, i personally dont want to deal with it but i know i will someday. Ive heard good things about mixing the boers and nubians but from what ive heard they produce are a larger breed.

We only have a few acres available for our goats so we had to go with a smaller breed. I considered the nigerians as well but heard they could be hard to milk due to smaller teats and they dont produce enough milk for our family, we can go through 3-4 gallons of milk and alot of butter per week if we dont preserve.

I'm mixing the Boer billy for more meat with the Nubian nanny's for the large amount of milk. When I was a kid we got almost a gal everyday with a Nubian. My mom still milks Nubians but I don't know how much she gets a day.

Netherland Dwarf milk is AMAZING. It's better than cows milk IMO

You'd have to milk an awful lot of them to get any milk! And you'd probably have a wicked hand cramp!

Seriously, though, do you have Nigerians? There are plenty available around here, but most seem to be pets, rather than dairy animals.

I live in Tennesse and theres noone here, i will be the first when i start breeding

I did find that there were breeders in states surrounding me and i drove 5 hours to get my girls turned into a 12 hours round trip but to me it was worth bringing them in to Tennessee! Just make sure if you ever do want to make profit selling extra kids you get registered goats.

Netherland Dwarf milk is AMAZING. It's better than cows milk IMO 

Ive heard that about them and the kinders, i am excited to see for myself, also i have ibs and from what i read the enzymes in gots milk help calm tummys and helps with lactose intolerance.
