Homesteading in Washington state

Hello! I'm a new homesteader in Washington state.

I am new to chickens. I'm looking at breeds and chicken tractor designs. I can't wait to figure it all out and get started building/raising!

I have no chickens yet. I haven't chosen a breed yet. My main goal is to get eggs, but I need the chickens to be quiet and kid-friendly too.

My other hobbies are gardening, raising rabbits, aquaponics, dance, yoga, painting, sewing, cooking, etc.

I have a husband, son, 3 rabbits, and a dog.

My friend recommended BYC. I'm hoping to learn more from you!

Welcome, from another Washingtonian. Larger breeds are generally quieter and friendlier. Black sex links are a good option, and with that breed you are guaranteed to get only females.
