i mean there reallllllyyyy preeeetttyyyy but it seems there always the ones who get killed first, die first, and get mites more then any other birds

its like they are the mite magnet, no matter how much i dust them for it or clean there coop

there also really dirty

they dont lay many eggs, they dont got much meat, and they go broody to much

i mean ive had a few good silkies but not many

sorry all you silkie lovers just my opinion

I just hatched 3 out of 24. and im not to sure how i feel about them yet but i hope things get better becouse these are my girlfriends birds and the first time in 17 years she has shown any interest in any kind of chickens.

La la la la la! I can't hear you! La la la la!!!

I just ordered one from MPC to come this summer. Gonna be my first silkie. Don't y'all go and make me regret that choice!

I love my Silkie mix but not too keen on the purebreds. I tend to gravitate to mutts anyway because they have a unique look and usually the best qualities from both breeds. Mine is broody right now and I like that quality. She is due to hatch out 6 barnyard mixes on Easter Sunday. She's the cutest little girl too!

I have heard your complaints from many people in the chicken world. And then there are those who fans no matter the weather. I personally wonder what happens to all the unwanted roos, who wants a dinner of black meat anyway??
