OMG! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER! That is too funny.

(I'm kind of embarrassed to say, but that's along the lines of what I wanted with my silkie chicks!) - I have an inside joke with my parents. They use to have a small maltese dog that passed away. They always said they wanted to get another so I told them that once my silkies grow up they won't be able to tell the difference. That just cracks me up seeing Sophie in her little outfits and hair clips - that's how they use to dress their dog

Random question: What color is she considered and what did she look like as a chick? I supposedly have a self-blue/lavander chick and the wing feathers seems to be coming in white... In fact, all of my chicks were a different shade of something and they ALL are looking white

i have two because my daughter wanted one after watching the PBS special the History of the Chicken and i finally found 2 at TSC and so far they are spunky little things i've had to clean their feet a few times because they've gotten that sticky tar poo on them but i've done that for my cochin bantys too. I have several breeds in my flock i like interesting i'm always on the lookout for cool looking chickens whether it's the way they look or the color eggs they lay

We have 5 now. Love em. My daughter picks them up and carries them like babies. She carts them around in her play baby carriage...LOL!!! They're hilarious!

I have noticed they can get hit hard by mites but really not too much to keep them powdered up...

Wow!! Sophie is adorable. I used to fall in the catagorie of people who did not like silkies. All it takes is having one in your life. It is true they steal your soul!! I have been trying for 1.5 years to have a flock and I only have 4 total right now. They are hard to hatch, to brood, and to keep away from predators, but I LOVE them. I have 12 in the incubator right now due to hatch tomorrow!!! I am now thinking of crossing them to another bantam to get some cute birds with clean feet.

We have three silkie chicks coming from Tori coming on Tuesday, I can't wait to see them (also 3 orpingtons).

But I wanted to comment on the show the History of the Chicken. That is the best show ever! Oh my, in fact I think I might go watch it again. I think it's still on Netflix instant downloand. I actually cried when the chicken who couldn't have babies (was she the silkie?) finally had babies and then the hawk flew over and all the chickens ran but she ran to her babies and covered them with her wings. The hawk picked her up and carried her away but then dropped her. The owner saw it all from his kitchen window and ran out thinking she was dead but luckily the hawk had only got a few feathers and she was fine. She put her life on the line to save her babies. I actually cried during the little re-inactment they did (in defense I had just had a baby myself, LOL)

Hmm, Interesting, is that a new color of Silkies? I love her to pieces no matter what the color is. I always called her my purple chicken, LOL! She has "vulture hocks" and for that I believe she was a cull possibly from the breeders "paint" project????

She's going to be hatching out some eggs for me on easter, none are hers though
