Honestly - I have had chickens for years, yet?

Darn. Australorps are definitely late bloomers. Maybe he knows his fate and is just hoping you won't notice. 😉

Not my Blue Australorps.

Green up there isn't even 12 weeks yet and last year one of my Blue Australorp girls laid her first egg a week before the California White did.

Maybe I should have specified black, but I didn't think color mattered. Or maybe I should have specified most of the time.... 🤷‍♀️ I definitely think my hens didn't lay until they were at least 20 weeks old and they didn't fill all the way out until much later. Blues must be special. 😁

My polish cockerel was already crowing at 9 weeks and already had the beginning feathering of a cockerel. He definitely was an early bloomer. But, with that said, his sister just started laying eggs - they are around 6.5 months now. :gig

I don't know if color matters, but line probably does.

That's why I made sure to get this year's Blue Australorp chicks from Welp rather than risk some other hatchery's not having the characteristics I'd liked so much in last year's 2 hens.
