Honestly - I have had chickens for years, yet?

Oh, I like a rooster, and I am in a stage of rebuilding after a wreck, but I just don't really like him. He is very slow to mature, and he is not impressing me really in any way. I will wait a bit longer...

I am considering ordering some better quality chickens now that my coop/run is secure, I will check them out.

I love my Welp birds -- they're vigorous and beautiful. I don't love the 25 chick minimum and will probably not order from them again unless I'm mixing an order of layers with an order of meaties.

oh, I could do that...order the meats with the layers. 25 is too much for me, but I often have a friend near me that likes to get new chickens.

They are great if you have a lot of hawks around

I've heard that so I kept the hens. Honestly I think having multiple big roosters is my best hawk deterrent for adult birds. My theory is hawks don't want to get in a fight on the ground so they don't attack something they can't carry off.
