Well this bird is only with hens. He still isn't crowing, and he hatched July 22, I believe. I don't think I will be keeping him. I have another one, that hatched in October, and I think I will keep him, IF he continues to develop like I want. Such a hobby, all these decisions to make.I read somewhere that the expression of male characteristics can be suppressed in cockerels growing up in a flock with mature roo/s, and it certainly fits with my experience, and it makes spotting the boys early rather difficult.
They are great if you have a lot of hawks around.If you get him to play an egg you'll be rich lol
Side note i had a lone Australorp I hatched a few from this year that crossed with my Phoenix's. I ended up with a yard full of blackbirds lol
