Side note i had a lone Australorp I hatched a few from this year that crossed with my Phoenix's. I ended up with a yard full of blackbirds lol

I read somewhere that the expression of male characteristics can be suppressed in cockerels growing up in a flock with mature roo/s, and it certainly fits with my experience, and it makes spotting the boys early rather difficult.

Well this bird is only with hens. He still isn't crowing, and he hatched July 22, I believe. I don't think I will be keeping him. I have another one, that hatched in October, and I think I will keep him, IF he continues to develop like I want. Such a hobby, all these decisions to make.

They are great if you have a lot of hawks around.
