Honey Bees

My bees are always into the chicken feed. I think there is some pollen in it naturally. They don't bother the chickens and the chickens don't bother them. It's actually pretty funny to watch them burrow down into the feed to get what they are after.

Never crossed my mind, thanks. I walk close by and they don't sting or anything, but I do hear the young birds chirp every once in awhile. LOL, I don't know if they got stung or what.

A big thanks for the links. I put some extra food on top the roof today for the bees. Maybe I should crush some up finer so they can carry some off easier.

Now I need to figure out what direction there headed and maybe see how close I can get to the hive.

You can get stung doing this, capture 1 in a jar, take it away from the coop (or where ever you capture it), turn it loose and watch, it will fly up in circles and then home bound. If it is vary far you may want more that 1 bee/jar.

Also one can get stung trying to capture bees.

We did this when I was young and Dad wanted another hive, best bees we ever got came out of a flood (we waded flood waters for about a mile) and may not have made it as the tree went under water shortly after we left.

Thanks RWise! I didn't know this. I was just outside there trying to figure out where they're coming from. I read last night they can travel quite some distances (anywhere from 1-7 miles) depending on food sources. I don't want to harm them in any way, at the same time I don't want them to harm my birds or people. Your ideal is pretty neat I have some old coffee jars that should work.

You know I'm learning more about bees than chickens or other birds right now. LOL!!!
