I bet I know exactly what happened. As soon as those 2 guys saw that "positive" show up, they looked at each other and said,

"SCORE! Paid time off!" and started "feeling sick".

I used to be a substitute teacher. That contributes to my cynicism...

but I still bet that's what happened.
