Exactly one year ago today I had a very sick chick with no experience on how to deal with it. I found this website an many of you tried to help me.
Since then we've fallen in love with keeping chickens and decided earlier this year to try to add meat kings to our homestead.
I'd heard really awful things about meat kings in the past and was a little hesitant but my husband persisted and I agreed to try.
Right off the bat I learned just how docile and friendly these birds are.
We've had a wonderful experience tending these birds. We've made a few mistakes, but, out of the 20 birds we brought home as baby chicks, we brought 20 birds to the processing facility. I'm still in shock not one bird died.. until today.
Today was the due date and as a first timer it wasn't easy. But I know I gave those sweet birds the best life I possibly could and I just wanted to take the time to honor them, and their sacrifice for our family.
Thanks

No way! Hahah the duckling was reintroduced to the wild. She was a rescue, we kept her until she flew away on her own. She visits the yard sometimes with her new family.
