Amber looked at him, and a warm feeling flooded her. But she said nothing, instead snatching up a rabbit and dropping it at her cousin’s feet. ”You two are almost all grown up. You’re going to start getting your own food, ” she scolded, but she was smiling. Amber turned to Jasper. ”Want to go on a walk?” she asked shyly, unsure of how Jasper felt at the moment
Jasper was wagging his tail and smiling, but he was still unsure of how he felt. "Why not," he said, then smiling to the pups he licked the female's nose and nudged the male, making him giggle. "We'll be back," he said to them.
Amber smiled and started off. ”Any place in particular you want to go?”
"Well..." Jasper thought for a minute, "There is one place," he said finally and started off for the area he had slept at the night before. He looked at her and felt an inexplainable joy flood him, he smiled, and started at a playful run.
Amber laughed and took off after him. The whole time, she felt a fleeting happiness. She had never felt this way before.
Jasper slowed when he reached the valley. It was a little ways from pack territory but the view was worth it. There was a crystal clear, blue lake in the middle with a couple small waterfalls pouring into it. The spray made little rainbows with the sun's reflection and there was beautiful koi in the lake. The grass was lush and green and had many flowers dotting it. There were a few different types of fruit trees and a blackberry bush went around the entire length of the valley. He sighed, taking in the beauty for probably the thousandth time. "My mother used to take me here when I was a pup," he said with just hint of sadness.
”It’s beautiful, ” she breathed
Jasper walked a little farther into the valley, he stopped to watch a young buck leap past. Not wanting to go after it at all.
Amber followed him. ”This place must have strong memories for you.” she said softy
