Jasper respected her decision to not share her thoughts and said nothing, instead peeling the skin back from a rabbit leg.

Jasper ate slow, thinking. He was excited, thinking maybe Amber was pregnant, but he did not want to raise their hopes so he kept quiet. He looked around and spotted a large bird of prey watching them intently. He tossed a rabbit that way, not liking the staring the big bird was doing.

Amber glanced over at the bird. "Very majestic, don't you think?" She grinned.

Amber laughed. "Me neither." She yawned. "If you don't mind, I think I'm going to go lie down and rest for a bit." Finishing her rabbit, she walked back to the den and lay down.

Jasper followed her and laid down next to her. "Goodnight," he whispered in her ear, falling asleep with her.
