I'd like to build a hoop house using 2 cattle panels. How do you fasten the wood for the door to the cattle panels? I know this is probalby a stupid question but I'mnot handy.

someone posted their complete hoop with the steps they went through for it. they made a 2x4 "frame" on the bottom and atached the wire on them. I would use lg roofing nails to secure them to the wood. I can't seem to find her post

i just built a hoop coop (and by me i mean my hubby) and we used pvc and hardware cloth on the whole thing. it has a nest box that opens out so i don't have to go in to get eggs. we did the pvc so it would be light enough for me to move by my self.

it's not done yet but this is basically it. we plan on finishing it this weekend. good luck to you

thanks! we based it off of ones we saw on here but didn't have a "plan" it is 8' / 6' on the base. we used 2/6s for the base. then put 2/4s on the long sides as skids. we may add wheels at some point. we got 10' pvc and put 2 ' straight up on the bottom then attached the 10' poles and bent them over into a hoop. we dry fitted everything before glueing. we built the door with 2/4s and hubby just kind of threw together the nest box. it had a door that opens out. the perches are run from the nest box and attached to the pvc. we put hardware cloth over the whole coop with a 2' apron all around to prevent digging predators. we also used a ton of zip ties. today we added a corrugated plastic roof over about the back 2/3. we left the rest open for now and in the winter we will use tarps to cover/insulate. it is bottom heavy so it won't blow away or topple but it won't be too hard for me to move by myself. i will post another pic of what we did today as soon as i get a chance. hopefully this is enough detail but feel free to pm me if you want more info. there are tons of pages with this type of coop on this site so you can add whatever details you want to yours. we are planning on having 4 hens since we live in the city and that is our limit legally.

That is awesome! I have my coop plans but I could use something like this for just the run.

Would love to have some more pics.

edited to add: did you use zip ties to attach the pvc to the wire? How did you attache the door frame to the pvc?

here is another pic. it would make an awesome run. we actually thought about doing that but with a coop attached it would be too heavy for me to move. so we just did it as an all in one. good luck with yours

yes we used zip ties to attach the pvc to the hardware cloth. the door frame was installed and then the pvc put on. i believe they nailed the pvc to the frame. i was just a helper so i'm not totally sure of the details. had to ask the hubby
