Hoop Tractor For Hens

We have been discussing lately new plans for housing our birds (our current coop being small and stationary, not to mention falling apart). One of our ideas was using a chicken tractor. I've seen several designs however one that particularly caught my attention was a cattle panel hoop-coop design. I know it was meant for meat birds, but I have seen it a couple of times for hens. This seems like the perfect tractor. I have a link to another thread where there is a picture of it. Any one else have experience with this tractor, ESPECIALLY for hens? Thank you!

No experience but definitely have plans to build one this next month. Perfect for me. Plastic bins can be stapled to the sides for nest boxes. My first chicks are coming March 20 and I'm so excited. Good luck

My hubby and I live in Wisconsin and we built a hoop house tractor for ours. It has become the year round house, since it acts like a greenhouse in the winter and keep the birds toasty warm even in -45 degree weather! See this blog here, this is exactly like ours:

Works really well, can be used as a tractor during the nice weather and left stationary for winter!

for ideas. They sell plans for $25 but they don't seem to hard to reproduce using the site itself.

The have a similar design and they aren't hard to do (relatively). it's not that fancy, however I do recommend following the northern version. The southern version is more open to deal with extreme heat.



You could make it skids instead of wheels if mud's a problem
