No worries.... I have two 250watt lamps on mine... Just outside of the coop under covering.
They love 'em so much they don't always go in the coop.
They do have 3 ft solid walls on the bottom of the run which blocks the wind (chkn wire on from 3' up to 6.)

Born and raised here. Spent a week up in Main in October and I loved it! Sooo pretty...sooo clean. I could live there.

Dang it's cold! I for one am glad I am not a chicken....it was 1* this morning! Sunny now so it's up to 8*. My guys absolutely refuse to come outside. I put a 250 watt ceramic heater in one of their light fixtures a couple days ago to take the bite off....FWIW.

Anyone have a banty pullet/hen they are willing to part with? My poor little polish/silkie cross has no one to snuggle up with.

Hi Fellow Hoosiers,
I am a newer member of BYC and still finding my way around the site. I live in Switzerland County, IN which is in the southeast part of the state along the Ohio River. We live on a 75 acre farm which is mostly wooded hills.
I am a wife, mother of 3, stepmother of 1, and grandmother of 11.

My family thinks I am a little chicken crazy and my son (who is 30 yo) warns people to not get me started talking chicken. lol
I currently have Black Javas, Blue & Blue Partridge Silkies, Seramas and Blue & Black Polish. My project is the Black Javas, the other breeds I have are from a couple of my granddaughters who do not live on a farm. Oh and we have Arthur and Bella our peacock & peahen.

We just got hit with about 6 inches of snow last night according to my DH who walked out to the barn this morning. I have some birds in the barn and some are in chicken tractors in the yard, all are doing fine. All the chicks are in the house, "chicken crazy". lol

It's nice to meet you all.
Patty

Hi, javachick, I asked this a few minutes ago on the Indiana Chicken People list when I added you, so I'll repeat it here in case you don't go back to that post:
javachick, did you know Kay Hanna Coffman. She was from Vevay, but she now lives in Florida./b]

No, I do not know Kay. It would have been nice to know a local BYC friend.
