hoovers hatchery; do you recommend it?

I guess it depends on your goal, are you wanting to breed show quality birds or pet quality?
They said they "resale chicks" so there is no breeding. The thread is asking about are they good, healthy chicks since they are going to flip them since it's hard to get chicks if you haven't dealt with hatcheries when it's normal, let alone crazy now. She didn't ask if she should buy from Greenfire or a show breeder, she just wants healthy, well packaged chicks to arrive alive and stay alive when she resells.

To answer your questions,
What are your experiences with hoover's hatchery? My chickens were all girls, I got 15 of them. It was 15 different breeds. They were healthy and still are and I did lose a couple to predators and such. But they are doing awesome!
Do you recommend it? I definitely recommend them from my experience. Mine just turned 5 months old and are looking like they will lay eggs soon.
If you do could you show pictures of the ones you ordered? I have these, they are different ages in all these pics. My Cornish cross is 4 1/2 moths old in the picture.

hello so I've been thinking of starting to get my stock from an online hatchery and I've chosen hoovers
I re-sell chicks and I just thought that hoover's hatchery was relatively cheap.

I picked egg layers hatchery's choice assortment and crested assortment
questions...
-what are your experiences with hoover's hatchery?
-do you recommend it?
-if you do could you show pictures of the ones you ordered?

Thank u.

I ordered 10 broilers from them. They came quickly to the post office from the hatchery but unfortunately the post office did not notify me to pick them up until much much later. When I brought them home they were quite stressed and 3 died. Hoovers reimbursed me for the ones that died no questions asked. Pleasant Interactions with customer service . I recommend them for sure .

I'm never trusting Hoover's Hatchery ever again because they sell & ship sickly chicks & DGAF. By sickly I mean that most of their chick shipments are already dead upon arrival.

Not a huge fan of Hoover's Hatchery. One of my Brahmas had a badly depressed immune system, due to a immune disorder I had no knowledge of. Most likely due to severe inbreeding. She died last year due to a worm overload that took a big toll on her body, & passed away in her sleep.

I had an Easter Egger with a deformed beak, that passed away at 7-8 weeks. She was small, & runty. Her friends were already outside. She had some youngsters as company.

The only birds I really get from there are my Buff Orpingtons, since they carry specific genes I need for one of my projects.

Sorry to hear that.

I have gotten 5 orders from them without a problem. A friend of mine did have some DOA, but it due to the post office. Order was delayed and she lost a couple chicks. One call to Hoover and she was reimbursed for thr cost even though it was beyond their control.

I have mine shipped to my local farm store and pick them up there. They get dozens of birds delivered at one time once a week, and will place individual orders for people. Easier than stressing about the post office.

I have a friend who works at the local Bomgaars store & she is also their seasonal "chick lady". Just last year over more than half of Hoover's Hatchery chick shipments were dead before they even arrived to the store. Their lack of responsibility is very disappointing.
