Hoovers Hatchery "Rare Breeds" question

What breeds should they be?

Can you post pics? When taking a pic, use regular light. Take pic of them from the side, while they are standing. Seeing their feather pattern, and leg color, and comb type are the most useful things for breed ID at this age.

Thank you! They weren't easy to photograph but here are some photos of the different birds.

The second picture shows a dark bird, with dark legs and apparently a white beard under the chin: I think it's one of the something-eggers they offer (they've got a bunch of different special crosses, and some are listed as possibilities in the rare breed assortment.) I predict you'll get some green eggs from that bird. :)

The two white ones in the third picture seem to have light gray feathers in the tail and around the neck. I would think they are Coronation Sussex, except that I can't find that breed on Hoover's website.

One thing you'll be able to check in a few more months is egg color. It looks like their not-rare assortments pretty much just have brown eggers and white eggers, so any green or blue eggs would come from "rare" breeds.

Silver Laced Wyandotte was in their "Standard Package" and I got one of those. I might have black Australorps too.

I was just wondering if that has happened to anyone else. Maybe they're not Australorps but look similar right now as chicks. 😁

Either way I love my chicks and will love them no matter what, but the standard package was way cheaper!
What color is the bottom of your "'lorps" feet? Jersey Giant chicks look very like Australorps as chicks, but the bottoms of a JG's feet are yellow, not pinkish gray. JGs are not only considered rare, but they're also amazing birds. I LOVE my lone JG hen! She was "supposed" to be an Australorp, but she's 2 feet tall and weighs nearly 14 pounds, now. That ain't no 'Lorp Lady! :D

Well, I just see some leftover babychick fluff. Same with the one on the right side in the rear of the picture (cockerel)

Well that is very intriguing! I just checked and the feet are definitely yellow underneath! I think I might need another Chicken Coop. LOL

Has anyone experienced mistakes where they send the wrong package or slip in the cheaper breeds in the more expensive package?

I'm starting to get suspicious.

Did you ever figure out what you have? I got the rare choice package also, they are 8-9 weeks now and I’m having a lot of trouble identifying 7/10! Including black ones that look a lot like what you have.

No, I am thinking Starlight Green Eggers or Red Sexlinks of some kind. They are 12.5 weeks now so I'm waiting for combs to finish developing and then I should know...or when they start laying.

First time chicken person any ideas on these breeds? We got rate variety pack.

Please start a new thread with your question, and in that thread be sure to tell what hatchery you got them from.

(When several different people try to have chickens identified in the same thread, it gets really confusing. Having each person start their own thread is a good way to keep things clear.)
