So I placed an order for chicks for May 6th but got an email saying they would be shipping early Feb. I figured I messed something up when checking out and just rolled with it and got the brooder ready early, no big deal. Well the chicks arrived today and only 6 of them look like what I ordered. I checked my order, and I checked the label on the box, I didn't make a mistake there. I ordered 10 CA Grey and 10 Welbar. I got maybe 6 welbars in the box and 14 birds I never wanted or asked for. Has anyone else ever had this happen? They look like white crested black polish and midnight majesty Marans. They have the head poof for the black and white ones and some have feathered legs on the solid black ones. I didn't spend too much time looking them over but it's very clearly not what I ordered. I emailed the company and haven't heard back yet.

Once we got the wrong chicks from a hatchery (I think MurrayMcmurray) and they were very good about it, we received another shipment of the correct breeds, at no extra charge. So we had 25 more chicks than we planned on, but everything worked out fine.
Call the hatchery, they will likely want photos of your chicks, and should be fine with sending the correct birds. And if these birds aren't 'similar' to the birds you wanted, it shouldn't be an issue.
We had to wait until the first birds sent were grown enough to be an obvious mistake, sending pictures.
And call them, don't depend on an email.

It doesn't make sense to send an order early if they don't have the breeds you ordered available early. I think someone else got your order and you got theirs, a simple shipping mistake. A lot of chicks look like chipmunks, those might not be welbars at all. I'd call and say you believe there has been a mistake, the chicka don't look as expected. Send photos, let them explain what they think happened and how they wish to resolve it.

I'd try call them and mention you've emailed them pictures. Ask if they would ship you the correct ones as per your order, for a May 6th date.
