I have 3 "flocks" 6 11 week olds, 4 7 week olds, and 3 3 week olds. One of the 7 week olds is really big. Running out of room in their crate so I've been trying to ease the big pullet in with the 11 weekers. I tried for 3 days to get the big ones to accept her. I knew their would be some pecking so I just kept real close watch.
Today was no different. The big ones were going in and out of the coop while "little" one stayed in and cried for her crate mates. Some pecking and whatnot, but I made myself tough it out.
Tonight at bed time after all the big ones were on the roost I picked little one up and put her at the end of the roost about two inches from the other roost, same level. All the big ones were "piled up" together and poor little one all alone. Looked sad. I had to go back to the barn/coop for my cell phone, one of the bigger pullets had moved over to the other roost and was about an inch or so away but beside the little one.
Does this sound like it's a good sign?
Sorry so wordy.
