Relax a little, it takes a lot of time for eggs to go from pip to zip, sometimes 24 hoursHOLY CANNOLI!!! Numbers 2 and 5 have PIPPED!!!! However I’m a little worried I got to my classroom this morning and the humidity dropped to 46% overnight??? I’m putting water in to raise the humidity right now especially with the two eggs pipped.
Will they be okay??it held at 70-71% all day yesterday and the day before and we are having heavy rain and pretty high ambient humidity so I don’t know why it dropped overnight so much! I know once the first baby hatches it should be okay because the moisture in their shells helps maintain and raise the humidity right? Sorry.. worried chick mom
those particular eggs were the ones I was most concerned about because those hens eggs usually had really strong membranes and of course now the humidity was too low when they had pipped. I’m getting it up now it is at 60 I’m aiming for 68-70.

UPDATE: I'd just like to add that the humidity is now 68-69%, and egg 2 has been chirping and wiggling all morning but I don't see a lot of progress past the first pip I don't know if that is normal for the amount of effort I am seeing her exert. Number 5 has also been seen wiggling but seems to be resting mostly from pipping. Is it possible that they are shrink wrapped from the humidity drop overnight?Or will they be okay? I am such a worry wart
Okay I am choosing to let it go! I will cheer her on from outside the incubator. But there's nothing more I can do except make sure the humidity doesn't dip down low again today. She seems active and healthy so I am choosing to believe that she will be strong enough to break out of her shell!Relax a little, it takes a lot of time for eggs to go from pip to zip, sometimes 24 hours
I wouldn’t worry too much about the humidity drop, once you can see the membrane inside the shells, keep an eye on it to see if it looks dry or wet
You might wake up tomorrow and find an incubator full of chicks!Okay I am choosing to let it go! I will cheer her on from outside the incubator. I am sure hoping so!!You might wake up tomorrow and find an incubator full of chicks!
If she’s making progress and moving she’s probably not shrink wrappedI am sure hoping so!!Since posting, she has made more progress cracking her shell. I can't tell yet if she's gotten through the membrane but I feel like breaking the shell is harder, so she should be able to get through that membrane with her egg tooth. She's a spunky one! I'm very excited about this egg in particular because I'm almost certain it is from my speckled sussex hen, Pepper, and she was my best pal. She regularly perched on my shoulders on her own and hung out with me while I was in the yard. I miss her terribly! Here she is perched on my head (her own idea) when she was just a few months old. So if this chick is anything like her mama, she'll find a way out of that egg! She's got places to be and people to see! View attachment 4043393
ALSO number 8 has pipped!!![]()
