Hi everyone! We’ve raised these six beautiful birds from day-olds and they came to us un-sexed. I’d love to know if you think which ones are hens/roosters? We’ve got blackie - a black australorp, smoky, a splash australorp, snowy, a white Sussex, cloud, a white australorp, and tophat and shadow, who were meant to be splash but are mainly just white. They’re 10 weeks old. TIA!!!!

I see three cockerels and three pullets.

(1,5,7 pullets. 2, 3, 4, 6 cockerels. I think there’s 2 pics of 1 bird?)

Red are pullets.

That’s pretty much what I’ve been thinking but it’s nice to have confirmation!!! Thank you! Is it mainly because of the size/colour of the combs/wattles or is there another way of telling? Thank you!

The black one is probably a rooster being that it has a green tint... but not 100% sure. The rest look like females

That would be awesome! When do they start developing the distinctive feathers around the tail - saddle and sickle - that mean roosters?

Yep. Sex specific feathering won’t develop for another few weeks.

The black is a cockerel but it’s because of his comb, all black Australorps have iridescent feathers. I’m still fairly confident you have 3 of both sexes.

Here they are!
