Hoping not a Rhode Island Rooster

Does anyone else think he is mixed tough ? Look how long those leggs are and they are white when RIRs are supposed to have yellow leggs, and the few people who keep Rose Comb RIRs usually have have nice nice dark heritage type ones and that one is colored more like a production red and I have never seen or heard of a rose combed Pro Reds. But I dont know, I guess someone could have crossed RCs in to SC production lines. But it still could be a cross. Either way that wasnt the question I guess, the question was is it a roo and yes it is definitely a roo.

Definite cockerel. I wonder if he is a RIR crossed with an Aseel or Malay? The comb? The ostrich legs? That evil looking eye? That would be my guess. NOT a purebred anything, and not a purebred RIR, but definitely a cockerel. Raise him and eat him. I bet he will have killer drumsticks to munch.

i think the pic is just a little over exposed. i believe those are yellow legs, and i believe the legginess (if that is a word) my be due to just the pose he was in and just that gangly age. at the same time, a very large percentage of any breed varies considerable from standard. probably just a poor example of a rose comb RIR. not to say there is anything wrong with him.

it is a he by the way

Just to update, Penny, (now known as Patrick) has started practicing his crow at 530-6am each morning so you are all correct.

Unfortunately I live in a residential area so dont think my neighbours are going to be too impressed if I keep him

Will have to find him a good home & replacement so my black Australorp is not alone.

Thanks everyone for responding
