Here's one of our 7 week old EE's. I know it's difficult to tell w/EE's but I'm wanting some opinions. The comb looks like a single row and sorta yellowish orange... Lil Chicken Nugget is one of the bigger chicks and has feathered out quicker than a couple of the others.

Tell me what ya think? (Hoping she's a she not a he)

well, I was gonna say pullet... but that just may be me wanting every EE to be a pullet so that mine (that everyone thinks is a roo) will be too.

I just wanted to mention that I bought 6 EEs one year - all sexed pullets. Quite a few of them started getting pink in their comb by 7 weeks old, one had slow growing tail feathers - they all ended up being pullets. Comb color is one of the most inexact ways to sex EEs. Can you get a clearer side view so we can look for saddle or hackle feathers?

Ok...Here's a full body and side view of Lil Chicken Nugget...

Hope it helps.

The tail feathers and the stance suggest roo. The way his tail feathers are growing in longer and slightly pointed at the ends looks more like a cockrel. I don't see any saddle, hackle or sickle feathers, yet, so I'm not 100% convinced. Here's to hoping for a pullet!

So, if a chicken's tail is pointed and facing downward, it is likely to be a rooster?

Please tell me no, because I have a 'hen' with a tail like that, while the other hens don't.

Thankx for your input guys/gals. I'm hoping that if it is a roo it can get along with my silkie roo who's older by a bit. So far there aren't any issues...they've all been housed together for awhile now.

Maybe it'll surprise me and lay an egg?!
