So, I am researching/looking to purchase an automatic horizontal chicken door opener. Does someone know of any other brand than Butler? Not so good reviews. Any help? Thanks

I can see the horizontal model having issues, like jamming and possibly not be that predator proof. Do you have to have horizontal??? I have a vertical Ador1. Am very satisfied with it. was $218 delivered. Here is my pix.

Not sure, but I suppose this can be mounted 90 degree and be horizontal as well. You may need to maintain the track clean more often.
There are home made options for under $60 . Let me know and I will forward the BYC links.

I have a vertical door also from Fleming. It works great. Most vertical doors work with gravity, which won't work horizontally. But the new space I have to work with will not accommodate vertical. Does this company have a horizontal model?

I was looking at these and wondering---do chickens ever get caught in these things? I am guessing that they don't have an automatic reversal thing like a garage door.
Chickens are mostly on the roost well before the doors shut when on light sensor operation. They do close slowly just like M Scott stated.
