I have a GQF Incubator and am interested in ideas to lay large (duck & goose mainly) eggs on their side while incubating. I have the plastic egg holders to hold the eggs in a vertical (pointy end down) position, but I want to lay eggs on their side during the majority of the incubation cycle.

They make a tray, GQF Large Egg Setting Tray #0249, but with shipping it is $65.00 which is a bit to spend.

I have three trays in the GQF and I been thinking about some sort of insert to put in the tray for horizontally placed eggs. Thought of 1/2"x1" wire and shape it in a U shape, but it seems it would be rough on the eggs. Thought about 3 or 4 inch PVC pipe cut to fit longs ways in the tray and then cut in half down the length of the pipe, but it might restrict air flow around the eggs.

Any ideas appreciated.
