I've broken up my share of school fights. It's not something we are taught to do in the college School of Education.

Coach, cheerleader, parent, social worker, police officer, counselor, mentor...teachers wear so many hats throughout the day, and often more than one at the same time. It can be frustrating.

I'll just say that I understand.

I always though you come into the would like you leave, a bit senile. Ask my kids where thier agenda's for school are "I forget",ask them to clean thier bedroom "you didn't ask me to do that!" some days are better then others :'s

Not much happened today, we were all so tied up with crap at school. We go out on our 2 week break on the 12th, the kids are acting like we are already on break. We are having some gang issues suddenly that we've never had before, it's causing a lot of problems for us. I'm waiting to see if the boy's parents have decided to press charges against the girl or not, she's suspended but will be back in a couple of days. I had to laugh though, the mom that is so mad about her son being beat up by a girl in my class asked if she could do her observation for her class in my class next week.
I really do appreciate all the well wishes and support, I need them right now more than ever.

I work as a substitute teacher for grades pre-k through 6th grade. I know how kids can be. LOL
I think you did what was right. You felt you could trust them and they failed you, you did not fail them.
I hope that your administration sees this incident for what it is: kids being stupid and a teacher just trying to help.

I think you, as a teacher, are a very important part of our children's future. I have the highest respect for anyone who can even try to tame the caliber of children we seem to be breeding like rabbits these days. Keep up the good work.

Before I get in trouble here, I know there are a lot of good kids out there, but there are also a lot of kids who need some serious guidance and teaching.

I think truely every one has over reacted. Honestly to have the girl suspended, the mom watch the class? Fights happen , what ever happened to detention and inschool suspensions? My son,who's 10 took a knife to school and threatened his brothers with it, I had to fight so he would get punished! of course the school made me feel like it was my fualt and gave him a one day inschool suspension. All I wanted was someone to help me with him! He had 3 inschool suspentions this year, all because they refuse to see aspergers as a constant supervision type disability.grr get to meet with the teachers today fun!
