Horrible News, Now In Full Panic Mode! (kinda long)

We live in Auburn Ca, about 30 min outside of Sacramento. Its fairly rural, but still has a nice city side to it. A big reason we need to stay in this town is we have an office here, and the other is we have 3 kids in school here. I hate the idea of having to switch schools so near the end of the school year and trying to drive kids early in the AM and pick them up later is darn near impossible with all we have going on in our lives right now.

I didnt know realator.com had rentals- I'm going to check them out right away. (thanks for the tip!) I've been cruising CL, but there is nothing right for us- either its too small, way to far away, or the price is ridiculous (we already pay 2400 a month, no way we could go much higher, and really, we need to reduce it if possible).

I think as the first of the month gets closer, we will see more places listed. As it is, we're looking at around 4500 just in deposits/firsts month rent plus any pet deposits- having to build a new coop may be more expense and time consuming than I am capable of handling (especially in my current condition

). I dont think we can move our current coop- its just not an option, even if we can have chickens.

Speaking of chickens- As I type, I have chicks hatching like crazy in my incubator!! Despite all the stress, its still super fun to hatch and watch all the new babies! A real bright spot for my day!!

Do you know their names? If not, look it up on the county property tax site. Then address a nice card to them in the mail. Handwrite it. If they're "older folks", that'll impress them.

Ask your current landlord if they could possibly wait until the end of the school year. It may be "no" but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Yeah, I did try that... His answer was that the lease on the property HE is living in is up in June so he wants us to be out 30 days before he has to leave to give him time to do some repairs and upgrades to this house before he moves in to it. Which kinda irks me to be honest. I mean, the things he is going to repair are things we asked him to fix over 2 years ago, but NOOOOWWW that HE is moving in, suddenly there is urgency to get those things done. I'm trying not to harbor any ill will over those things since it does me no good , and since we're leaving, it doesnt really matter anymore. He was sooo cool about letting me have any animals I wanted here without a deposit, and we never even paid a regular deposit when we moved in. So, we now HAVE to move. I couldnt imagine getting into any kind of argument with him, he's not a bad guy really. Honestly, I think its his new wife pushing for this.

Just the way it goes for now. I am really hoping more comes available soon... HALO- I'm going to check those links out right now! THANK YOU!! How awesome of you to post them! Just goes to show how wonderful the peeps of BYC really are!! (darn it, now I'm tearing up..)

HALO-

Thanks for the links. There was one I will probably try to contact. We are such a big family, 2 adults, 5 kids (and one on the way no one knows about yet

) so we really, really need a big place. At least 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, AND room for pets. I just cant give up our dogs. I can board the horses, but with so many requirements, it will be something of a miracle if I get a place that will let us have chickens too.
At least I have some ideas of some of the agencies around here to send some inquring emails to- like you said, Ya never know. I'm still not very hopeful, but I wont give up till I have no other choice. Funny how my chickens are suddenly so much MORE precious to me now that I stand to lose them.
