I just wonder what my poor dogs must of thought while the tree was falling down on them. The fact that none of them were hurt is a miracle all in itself. I still can't beleive they survived. God knows how I feel about my animals. He was truly protecting me. It just took me a couple of days to totally realize it.

We had the same storm hit by our home (outside of Ft. Benning, Ga.) It did alot of damage but thank god only to trees. I am glad that nobody was hurt at your home! It was a very frightening storm.

We had another bad round of storms come through the area last night. It happened at 2:30 central time. What was a trip was all my roos went to crowing and I have a lot of roos. I couldn't get back to sleep after the storm woke me up. I have never been afraid of storms before but I am seeing that I may have developed a fear now. Luckily there wasn't anymore damage done.

When the tree fell it took out a pear tree, a cedar tree, a weeping willow tree and my grape vines. I still can't beleive it.

One of the first fireman to show up on the scene just stoped by to check on us. When the call went through dispatch at 911 it was reported that the tree fell on the house and we were trapped inside. IDK where that info came from. Last year we had gone on a snake call for this fireman to remove a venomous snake he had seen on the property.

I couldn't help but laugh today when I told the fireman I bet our neighbors are all happy the tree didn't smash my house and the 28 venomous snakes we have didn't get loose. That would have been a mess.

To all the folks here in the south going through these violent storms "please be safe." Take care evryone.

There are still several hundred homes without electricity one county over from me. I feel really bad about all of the damage that has happened lately.

Thanks and the tree is increditable huge. The tree is what I see out my office window now. It used to be such a nice view. Its a overwhelming feeling of doom.

There are homes just a few miles from here that haven't had power in over 2 days now. This has made me feel bad for complaining about not having power for 24 hours.

I keep having to kick myself in the butt for the way I feel. It was a miracle we made it. With the tree being only about 20 feet from my house if it had fallen toward the house my house would of been gone.

About a month ago I placed an add in the paper looking for fence post to use for new chicken runs. A lady called from Gasden about an hour away. She said she had 100 foot of chain link fence she needed removed and we could just have it if we came and took it down. The fence ended up being 250 feet and had all the top rails, two gates and hardware too. Man what a good find. At the time of course I didn't know I would be needing new chain link fence for my dogs.

We did get a working chainsaw today and was able to start with the clean up. We also have some help lined up tomorrow for Snakeman. With my health I am really limited with what I can do and its such a helpless feeling.

I know we can clear the tree up to a point but once it gets down to the trunk of the tree, man its 15 feet around. I haven't quite figured out how we can clear this. Its too close to the house to burn. We did get word today that we may be able to use the big chainsaws that the fire dept has. Im thinking we may have to move it with a bull dozer away from the house and burn it.

Its really funny but our fireman guy we helped with the venomous snake last year seems to be offering all kinds of help and his resources with the fire dept to. Maybe he wants to stay on our good side just in case there is another incident with a snake.

He did stay locked in his house when we went there to hunt and remove the snake.

I'm trying to keep my spirits up and I'm eating everyday!

I never knew the hum of chainsaws I heard from my office today would sound so wonderful. We have a wood splitter lined up to use which is a great advantage. Also our new friend from the fire dept { the great friend we didn't really know we had until now and after removing the snake from his property} may be able to line up a controlled burn to remove the huge stump for us. Things are starting to not look so depressing now. Even after the day was spent cutting this tree up you can't tell any of it is gone. Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to see some progress.

Wow, glad you're all okay. Those pics look like our neighborhood after Hurrican Hugo hit us. You have my empathy- no water or electric for 5 days, and it took 10 people with chainsaws 12 hours just to clear the roads so we could get out! I'm grateful you didn't have any more damage than you did.
